Activist Investors and the SEC: The Case Against 'Modernization' of the Williams Act
Remarks by: Robert J. Jackson, Jr., Associate Professor of Law, Milton Handler Fellow, and Co-Director of the Ira M. Millstein Center for Global Markets and Corporate Ownership, Columbia Law School
Professor Jackson will discuss activist investors and examine the consequences of updating the Williams Act of 1968. Topics will include the role of activist investors, the goals of the Williams Act, and an examination of proposals currently before the SEC to shorten the existing time-frame for reporting requirements on Schedule 13D.
