Join Duke North Texas on Saturday, April 26 as put in action Duke's mission of learning in service of society to promote adult literacy in our community! We are partnering with two of Dallas' most amazing community resources, LIFT (Literacy Instruction For Texas) and the Austin Street Shelter, to provide literacy testing for Austin Street's homeless population, inviting them to take classes at LIFT, with a reception at the end of the day to celebrate bridging together for the first time these two organizations and their uplifting missions.

We will meet at LIFT's offices at 1601 S. Malcolm X Blvd. at noon. We will receive training on how to provide LIFT's literacy testing and assessment skills, then we will walk over to Austin Street as a group, where we will provide the testing to Austin Street's clients with LIFT trainers supervising. After the assessments of literacy levels, we will join LIFT and Austin Street's clients and walk back to LIFT for a reception.

Kids are welcome, and you can drop by at any time during the day's events and there will be something meaningful to do and contribute to making this volunteer opportunity a meaningful and impactful day of service.
