3:30 - 5:00 p.m. Alumni Career Panel
The GSCI Department will be hosting an alumni led question-and-answer session for our current majors about professional opportunities in the Geosciences. We are looking for panelists to represent the full spectrum of Geoscience careers (i.e. energy, environment, teaching, etc).
5:30 p.m. Alumni Reception
GSCI former chair, Professor Hatheway, has graciously opened up his house (62 Second Street - just a block off campus) and will be offering pizza and refreshments following the Career Panel. Professor Hatheway and wife, Linda, hosted departmental gatherings for decades and are looking forward to seeing all of you.
10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Geology Alumni Field Trip - Penfield Quarry
Professor Farthing will be leading a field trip to the Silurian dolomite exposed in the Penfield Quarry to collect minerals. Please gather in the Bank Street parking lot (W) at 9:45 am for a 10:00 am departure. We will caravan to the quarry, so if you are able to drive and take a few extra people, please bring your vehicle. Closed toe shoes are required for entrance to the quarry. You must be at least 10 years old to enter the quarry. This event is free.
10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Geology Alumni Field Trip - Fall Brook
Professor Over will be leading a field trip to Fall Brook to visit the waterfall and collect fossils. Please gather in the Bank Street parking lot (W) at 9:45 am for departure at 10:00 am. We will caravan to the quarry, so if you are able to drive and take a few extra people, please bring your vehicle. Please come prepared to get wet and muddy! Children are welcome. This event is free.
5:00 p.m. Student/Alumni Barbeque
Join us at Long Point Park, located a few miles off campus on Conesus Lake, for a catered BBQ dinner. Dinner menu: BBQ pulled pork, marinated chicken, baked beans, salt potatoes, tossed salad/dressing, broccoli salad, three bean salad, rolls, dessert and iced tea/lemonade.
You are welcome to bring a cooler with personal refreshments. The group photograph is at 5:30 pm, but more importantly, this is the perfect opportunity to roast Prof. Young (RAY) in honor of his retirement. This event is $15 per person.
8:30 a.m. Alumni Farewell Breakfast
Breakfast will be served at 8:30 am at Highland Park, located at the top of Oak Street right in the Village of Geneseo. Menu: scrambled eggs, honey cured bacon strips, maple sausage links, home fried potatoes, french toast, pancakes, fresh fruit,
juice bar and coffee/tea.
Please join us for our farewell gathering before we all scatter to the four corners. This event is $5 per person.
