Library, Room 300
To mark the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s march on Washington, the Mesa Community College Library will take part in a nationwide celebration of Black History Month by screening the documentary film, The Abolitionists. This is the first in a series of four civil rights movement documentaries that the library will screen in 2014.

The Created Equal: America’s Civil Rights Struggle is a National Endowment for the Humanities and Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History initiative that uses the power of documentary films to encourage community discussion of America’s civil rights history. The MCC Library is one of three Arizona institutions awarded a set of four films chronicling the history of the Civil Rights Movement. The remaining documentaries in this series are; Slavery by Another Name, The Loving Story, and Freedom Riders.

Danny White, MCC Faculty, will show film clips from Abolitionists and lead an interactive discussion. Bring your lunch and join us!
