About the Workshop
In an interview, you need to do far more than just answer the interviewer’s questions to stand-out from the competition. In fact, “story-telling,” that is, sharing examples of your experience in an engaging way, is the key to making your interview a memorable experience. People remember images, they remember illustrations and examples. You need to tell these stories to make your experience come alive for the interviewer—so s/he can clearly see how you can do the same wonderful things for them!
In this workshop, you will learn how to tell powerful, persuasive, engaging stories about your experience by actually taking your stories for a test-run! You’ll first learn about the elements that make up a compelling story to be shared in the job search. Then, the first 30 participants will get two minutes each to share an example of how they helped an employer in answer to a typical interview question— “what is your greatest strength.” You will then get immediate feedback from the instructor, and anonymous feedback from the audience (via surveys).
Optional pre-work (this is not required):
- Attend Rob Hellmann's webinar, Turning Job Interviews into Offers, occuring on March 6 or view the recorded webinar which will be available shortly after the program.
- Come prepared to share an example from work about how you helped your employer.
