About The Mobile Museum

The Mobile Museum was designed by two gia in the world of architecture and museum design: Hall of Fame architect and designer Michael Graves, and Ralph Appelbaum Associates, renowned planner and designer of museum exhibitions.

The Mobile Museum’s actual structure is based upon a 53-foot double-expandable trailer. On the highway, the trailer is the standard 8.6’ wide by 53’ long. However, on location, the trailer expands from both sides to an amazing 850 square feet of first-class exhibit space at a height of 13.5’. Inside, visitors will find a dramatic multimedia exhibition created around the theme Make a Difference. Through images, artifacts, film, and interactive elements, visitors can explore the ways that New Jersey Hall of Fame inductees have changed the state and the world: as innovators, as leaders, and as voices for the voiceless—often against overwhelming odds. And they’ll be invited to consider how they, too, can make a difference in our world. Displays will rotate on an ongoing basis to highlight new Hall of Fame inductees.

The Mobile Museum will also be featured at a number of community events for the immense enjoyment of the general public, and will be featured at a number of schools throughout the state.

Making a Difference

At a time when school budgets are tight and field trips have been curtailed, the New Jersey Hall of Fame created the Mobile Museum to bridge this gap. This “field trip on wheels” is a cost-effective alternative and an attractive opportunity for educators as it is accompanied by an NJSEA-approved curriculum.

The Mobile Museum aims to introduce New Jersey’s young student learners to the fascinating stories and inspiration of New Jersey Hall of Fame inductees while simultaneously enhancing New Jersey pride and community involvement statewide.

The Museum was completed in June, and launched with a summer tour of the Jersey Shore, prior to the exciting school visits scheduled for this fall. The Museum is available to visit a community for a full day, providing time for all grade levels to view the interactive exhibits. After the school day is finished, the museum remains open for families and other community groups to enjoy.

The Integral Role of Our Sponsors

Sponsors and donors statewide have together made this dream a reality. We thank each and every donor for their generous support. Those who have donated $25,000 or more to the Mobile Museum are recognized below.

We encourage others to join them as Mobile Museum supporters. The opportunities for doing so are great; both in number and need.
